Rute Amaro is a Molecular Biologist specialising in the molecular, metabolic and hormonal warfare triggered during Plant-Pathogen interaction. Her scientific research has been focused on two detrimental diseases in grapevine: Powdery mildew (caused by the fungus Erysiphe necator) and Esca disease (caused by three fungi species Phaeoacremonium aleophilum, Phaeomoniella chlamydospora, Fomitiporia mediterranea). She had a fellowship on the GrapeInfectomics (PTDC/ASP-HOR/28485/2017) project. Also, she is team member in two other projects: TrunkBiocode - Diagnostic Platforms applied to Trunk Diseases in Grapevine (PTDC/BAA-DIG/1079/2020) and Vinisense - Biochip microfluídica para deteção de biomarcadores de stress em videiras e uvas (PTDC/BAA-DIG/4735/2020). She received 3 grants: a Short-term scientific mission to develop a Galaxy platform to analyse RNA-sequencing data; an Inclusiveness Target Countries Conference Grant; a grant for participation in the Plant Biology Congress 2023 and PhD Meeting. Rute Amaro participated in two training schools: Annot'Training - Hybrid Training School in Gene Annotation & Manual Curation of the PN40024 Grape Reference Genome; METABO-OPEN 2022 - Training School in Metabolomics FAIRD Data Management. She published a total of 4 papers (Q1, 5% Scimago): 1 as first author; 2 research articles and 1 review article as co-author; 1 as conference proceedings. She shared her work in national and international conferences and scientific meetings/workshops (1 oral presentation; 14 posters). Rute Amaro has been involved in sharing her laboratory thematics and techniques with high school students (Speed Dating with Scientists 2022, 2023 at FCUL, ULisbon) and bachelor students (Estudo Orientado at FCUL, ULisbon).
