Rogelio Jr Flores is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, under the "ATT - Agenda Mobilizadora Acelerar e Transformar o Turismo"
project. He is currently a member of the Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) Research Unit - Tourism
and Development Group, the same research unit where he worked as a Scientific Fellow from December 2017 - June 2019.
He has more than 18 years of academic, research & development and industry experience in the field of tourism, sustainable
development and events management. He has held numerous teaching, academic and research positions as well as project involvements
in Portugal, Spain, Oman, Malaysia, Ethiopia and the Philippines.
Rogelio has extensive professional and training experience in academic and programme administration, human resource management,
events management, airline operations management, passenger shipping operations, travel and tour agency operations and tour
guiding. He has involved in a number of capacity development programmes and projects funded by World Bank, national and local
government bodies, higher education institutions as well as private companies; and has developed curricula, course materials
and prospectus in various Tourism, Hospitality, Business and Event Management programmes. He has also received a number of
scholarships, honors and awards; and has organized international events and participated in various trainings, seminars and
conferences. Among the prestigious scholarships he received include a Doctoral Scholarship by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência
e a Tecnologia (2021 - 2023) and by University of Aveiro from 2019 - 2021.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Tourism and Advanced Studies in Tourism from University of Aveiro, Master's degree
in Business Administration from San Sebastian College Recoletos - Manila and Bachelor's degree in Tourism from the Polytechnic
University of the Philippines.
His research interests include sustainable development, natural and cultural heritage, event tourism and destination management.
He is also active in volunteer activities about tourism exchange, environmental conservation, education, youth and community
empowerment.
