Francisco Reis Sacramento Gutierres holds PhD in Physical Geography (with specialisation in Species Distribution Models (SDM) models and Landscape metrics at local scales - Natura 2000 sites in the West Coast Portugal), Master in Conservation Biology, Postgraduation in GIS Applied to Sciences of the Earth, PhD specialization in Geo-Ecological Data Analysis and a Licenciatura's Degree in Biophysical Engineering – Environmental Planning and Management. Francisco Gutierres joined OPT/NET B.V in 2020 and worked as GeoAI Senior Analyst and Geomatics manager. He has been involved in GIS-based analyses and developing customised GeoAI solutions for the Mining sector, Raw materials, Emergency systems (flood detection and Illegal fishing) and Environmental monitoring. He collaborated in the development of the interactive AI application for the H2020 GOLDENEYE project, which integrates Earth Observation Data (EOD), Drone, Proximal sensing and in-situ data, which serves deformation, vegetation, soil moisture, mineral and geological maps, and provides an AI analysis tool for mining planners. Francisco Gutierres also provides GIS analysis and AI algorithms implementation for the H2020 CENTURION project. This support includes automation of processes, creation of customised AI tools and workflows considering Earth observation analysis-ready data (ARD), being developed in use cases related to ARD generation; Agricultural weather index configurator; Maritime Spatial Planning (shipping dynamics); Real Time monitoring of the forest dynamics; and Flood zone mapping. More recently, he started to participate in the H2020 AGEMERA project at the level of data fusion and AI processing in the Raw Material sector. Holds 4 Remote Sensing Technical Certification - European Space Agency (ESA) - Copernicus & ESRI; 8 Esri Technical Certification (including ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, DBMS); 8 Certifications of Flora and Vegetation; 25 Certifications of Geographic Information Technologies, Business Intelligence, Geographic Modeling, Statistical Analysis and Database Management Systems; 1 Certifications of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), 1 Certification of Territorial Planning & 1 Certification of Sustainable Management in the Extractive Industry. Francisco Gutierres has contributed to over 77 publications (including 8 book chapters), holds 1 patent application (MYGEOSS initiative - Geoapp ´Mohana - MOnitoring of HAbitats at the level of a NAtura 2000 site ´); serves as accredited lecturer (AQU) at the universities of catalonia “Barcelona Technology School (BTS)”, “Jesuïtes Educació- UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya)” and “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)”; jury member in 3 Master’s thesis at the IGOT-UL and 1 Doctoral thesis at the UPC; Ad hoc reviewer of 13 international scientific journals; member of the Coastal Education & Research Foundation, Inc. (CERF)- USA; Metadata Manager in accordance with the Inspire Directive accredited by the Directorate General of Territory(DGT); and is external expert to assist in the evaluation of EU grant applications for the European Commission (EC). Before joining the OPT/NET B.V, Francisco worked for 20 years as a GIS and Environmental specialist in national and local government and private industry.
