Alexandra do Carmo Guimarães Mendes Moreira Hawke. É bolseira FCT-FCSH-IHA de doutoramento em ESTUDOS ARTÍSTICOS-ARTE E MEDIAÇÕES pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa, desde 2018, concluiu Whitney Museum Independent Study Program em Nova Iorque em 2005, Master in Fine Arts Degree - Pratt Institute em 2003. e o Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual em Lisboa em 1999. Tem publicado academicamente desde 2016. Expõe regularmente como artista visual. Bolseira da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Instituto das Artes, e Fundação Luso Americana para o Desenvolvimento. Actua nas áreas de Humanidades com ênfase em Artes, Ciências Sociais. A sua area de investigação é o conceito de Autonomia Artística de Uso Público nas práticas artísticas activistas Norte Americanas. Is currently a fellow of FCT and Nova University, enrolled in a PhD in Artistic Studies at Universidade Nova de Lisboa FSCH-IHA. She Studied at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, and Pratt institute, both in New York, and at Ar.Co in Lisbon. She publishes since 2016, Her fields of interest are Arts, humanities and social sciences.Her main area of research is the concept of Artistic Autonomy for Public Use, in the North American artistic social practices. Most relevant projects as an artist include: The Green Studio at IC19, (2018) at Sismógrafo, Porto, Studio Socialis (2014), at Carlos Carvalho Gallery (CCG), Lisbon; Everything was captured (even the movements of the goat), 2011, at Quadrum Gallery, Lisbon; Office/ Commercial (2008) CCG; A Willow (Or without Godot), 2006, at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin. Her practice is focused on the studio as a conceptual field of study—the studio as a lens through which to investigate relations between artist and public, revealing the dynamics, conditions and limits of authorship.
