Helena Peres (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences, the University of Porto, and a Research Nutritionist for the Center of Marine and Environmental Research (CIMAR), University of Porto, Portugal. HP is also an Invited Professor at UNESP- Botucatu, São Paulo State University, Brazil. HP is the Co-Principal Researcher of Fish Nutrition and Welfare Group (NUTRIMU) and the head of Aquaculture and Animal Experimentation Facility Platform of CIIMAR. HP is also the Director of Laboratory Aquatic Animal Science Course (Cal-Aqua), CIIMAR, and University of Porto. Listed in the World's Top 2% Scientists list ranking of the most cited scientists worldwide by Stanford University (California, USA). Associate Editor of Frontiers in Marine Science - Marine Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Living Resources and Fishes. MAIN RESEARCH TOPICS: Fish nutrition and physiology of fish aquaculture species; development of novel feed ingredients and functional additives through the valorization of agro-industrial by-products and underutilized biomass; Nutritional strategies to improve fish performance, feed utilization, and disease resistance; Nutritional tools for aquaculture's blue growth and reduction of carbon footprint. MAIN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INDICATORS: PROJECTS: PI or team member in 18 R&D projects and 15 project R&D with the industry, with a strong connection with national and international industry, and received > 5.1 million in R&D projects. PUBLICATIONS (Scopus h-Index of 40; 5105 citations): 151 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters. SUPERVISION: 19 Ph.D. these; 7 Brazilian Ph.D. Sandwich theses, 58 Master theses, and 49 graduate theses.
