Francisco Cruz finished in 2021 the master’s degree in mechanical engineering (production systems) at the University of Coimbra with a classification of 15 values, presenting a master thesis entitled “Design of the Structure of a Lightweight Robotic Manipulator” classified with 19 values. Since that period that he is working as a researcher at the Collaborative Robotics Laboratory, conducting multiple research activities in different national and Horizon 2020 projects. Francisco Cruz scientific interests focus on design, fabrication and control of robot manipulators, creating intuitive interfaces to teach robots by demonstration, robot localization and navigation in unstructured environments, collaborative robotics, robot team’s coordination and the integration of robot components in ROS-based platforms. This concept of robot systems to coordinate with humans to share and take advantage of each one best abilities of each agent has the potential to create a huge impact in our society and the way we live. The research work resulted in scientific publications presented in international conference (indexed on Scopus and Web of Science, one of them as first author), and a journal paper in second revision round. Francisco Cruz attended several courses and workshops, both national and international. Francisco Cruz developed activities related to science dissemination at high schools and with industry stakeholders. He is the contact point for the robotics topics at the new FactoryLab of the University of Coimbra, communicating robotics science to the visitors, from students to industry partners. He served as a reviewer of multiple conference and journal papers. Since 2022 Francisco Cruz is involved with teaching activities at the University of Coimbra as Invited Assistant, teaching the practical classes of Industrial Automation.
