Roger Casado completed his BSc in Biotechnology at the University of Lleida (Spain) in 2021 and a master's degree in Marine Biotechnology Resources at the Polytechnic of Leiria in 2023. His master's thesis focused on investigating the accumulation of microplastics in North Atlantic sharks, assessing their causes, potential effects, and exploring bioremediation strategies. From this work, he had the opportunity to present several posters of his results at different scientific events including, the EFB2022 Virtual conference (Spain), the SETAC Europe 33rd Annual Meeting (Ireland), and ‘Recent trends in microplastic research’ PRIORITY Training School - COST ACTION (CA20101) (Germany). He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree to evaluate the accumulation dynamics and effects of marine litter and its most prevalent chemical additives on sharks.
