Since 1986, Laurent Romary has continuously been involved in teaching activities. First as a research assistant at Supelec (Theoretical computer science, Computer vision, Pattern recognition, Algorithmics), then in conjunction with his research positions at CNRS and INRIA. He has primarily taught at Masters level with courses on Computer programming, Logics, Computational Linguistics, Language resource modelling and XML technologies. In 1992, he co-founded a technical Master program on Language Engineering (DESS Industries de la Langue). He is currently giving various seminars at the Humboldt University in Berlin in the domains of Computational Linguistics and Digital Humanities. In the sequence of his enrolment in standardisation activities, he has also come to give numerous tutorials on language resources at the Universities of Sfax, Malta, Würzburg, Beijing (Tsinghua), Pretoria, Stellenbosch, Odense, Iasi, Dakar, Daejeon, additionally to seminars given to the French and German communities. Since 2017, he has initiated, with several colleagues from the DARIAH network, a series of masterclasses in lexical data modelling and digital humanities. Ultimately, as director-general of DARIAH, he has initiated, coordinated and/or participated in several FP9 and H2020 EU projects (Cendari, Parthenos, Desir, Iperion CH, Hirmeos, EHRI). He also has collaborated within the scope of the industry, namely for the Matra Système d'Information [BnF], Thomson Multimedia, Thalès, Alcatel, as well as various SMEs involved in language-related technologies.
