Biologist with Emphasis on Genetics from Universidad del Valle (Colombia), carried out master and PhD studies at the Laboratory of Genome Structure and Function at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan, and a Doctoral internship at The Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research. In 2013 receives the International Fellowship for Women in Science from UNESCO and L’Oreal Foundation, with which conducted postdoc studies at the Laboratory of Chromosome Biology at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência and at the Laboratory of Disease Transcriptomics at Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes in Portugal. In 2017 is selected as finalist for the Innovation Boot Camp: RNA Splicing in Cancer organized by BioMed X Institute in Heidelberg, Germany, and invited to participate in a 4-year funded research team sponsored by the pharmaceutical Merck. Currently continue her association to BioMed X, Merck and iMM as consultant bioinformatics researcher. Lina Marcela Gallego-Paez published 5 articles in peer-reviewed journals, one review for the Encyclopedia of Life Sciences and three online computational resources in the field of cancer transcriptomics.
