Carlos Faria received his M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2012, from the Universidade do Minho, Portugal, and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2020, in the same institution. The goal of the Ph.D. project was to develop a safe and scalable framework to develop and test robotic systems oriented to neurosurgical tasks. As part of the doctoral program, from September of 2013 to March of 2014, Carlos was a visiting researcher at NEARLab in Politecnico di Milano where he developed work related to the validation of a stereo vision system for the cortical surface. He is currently working as a research fellow to develop a distributed software tool for simulation and validation of a 5-DOF platform for additive fabrication processes using composite materials. He is currently working as a researcher in the Digital Transformation Colab – DTx, where he is involved in the preparation and execution of projects in the areas of Human-Interfacing & Mimicking.
