Matilde Salgueiro is a Physical Geographer and Master's student at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT) of the University of Lisbon, where she also earned her Bachelor's degree in 2023. Her research primarily focuses on land use and land cover dynamics, particularly in the characterization of agroforestry abandonment and the occupation and expansion of invasive woody species, such as those belonging to the Acacia genus. Her interests encompass various research fields, including biogeography and the modeling of invasive species using machine learning approaches and remote sensing techniques. In 2025, she joined the InvaSTOP project as a research fellow, contributing to efforts aimed at anticipating the spread and emergence of invasive species to support national and transnational prevention strategies.
