Mariana I. S. Aguiar completed her Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, at University of Aveiro (UA) in 2020 and in 2022 and her Master's degree in Biotechnology (specialization in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology), at the same institution, where she was granted with a scholarship in 2016 due to her entry score being higher than 17.5/20. Aguiar's final BSc project was related to the production of biopolymers with antioxidant properties through food industry waste. Her Master's thesis was also associated with polymers, but this time, with high-density polyethylene valorization based on enzymatic depolymerization, a new field in which there are not many papers and knowledge so far. Currently, she is part of CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials. Additionally, Aguiar has presented her work in national and international conferences and she has also participated in conferences, meetings and workshops. During her academic years, Aguiar was also enrolled in different activities, such as a summer internship at Lactogal - Produtos Alimentares, S.A. (2018), the Chemistry Students Union (2017-2019) and the Pedagogical Board of University of Aveiro (2018-2020) and she was part of the organizing committee of the XII Biochemistry Students National Meeting (2018-2019). During her MSc she worked at Torrecid Portugal, Lda. (2020-2021) as a laboratory technician at the quality and environment department and at SDSR - Sport Division SR, SA (2021-2023). After that she worked as a Science and Technology Manager at University of Aveiro (2023). Currently she is doing her PhD (FCT grant PRT/BD/154714/2023) in Chemical Engineering at University of Aveiro under the supervision of Dr. Andreia F. Sousa, Dr. Frederik R. Worm and Dr. Ana M. Ferreira.

Some of its obligations are the pronouncement on the pedagogical guidelines and teaching and evaluation methodologies. I was a substitute between march of 2018 and september of 2019 and became one of the student's representative in september of 2019, ending up debating and deciding new teaching and evaluation stretegies to face COVID's limitations with the other members in 2020.
