With a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences (FEB2021), I have spent my last 10-years fully and exclusively dedicated to Clinical Researcher at UnIC@RISE and Department of Surgery and Physiology at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP). Serving as a motivational team leader at UnIC@RISE, coordinating the health technicians' team, I have cultivated a collaborative and driven work environment. My expertise extends to project manager including submission to local or national ethics through the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS) from the European Medicines Agency (EMA), data protection issues, budget planning and negotiation, resources allocation, human resources recruitment, communication with all stakeholders involved at clinical research projects, acting as a liaison between Sponsors, Hospital Centers (research team, principal investigator, finance department, administration council), Regulators, Technology/Devices companies, contract research organizations, including pharmacovigilance, data management, study monitors and managers, and even patients. I have facilitated collaboration and alignment towards project goals using an effective communication. In the realm of scientific reporting, I have demonstrated proficiency in compiling comprehensive reports and managing project documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. This includes planning outcomes and diligently following up on deliverables to ensure project timelines are met. My research has been focused on heart failure and cardiac surgery cohorts and my main contribution for the field have been related with statistical methodologies to better analyze retrospective, but real-world data, including propensity score analysis. The relevance of having registries even for the creation of registry-based clinical trials have been emphasized at my publications. I am also dedicated to the fully implementation of pragmatic clinical trials, investigator initiated, which use real-world patients within the standard of care practice. Besides statistics, study design and medical writing, I have also been dedicated to data management, creating, and managing electronic case report forms for clinical trials and simpler databases for cohort studies. I am the study manager of 3 investigator-initiative trials @FMUP (SOGALDI-PEF NCT05676684, INITIATE-HFrEF NCT05989503 and CALGUT, not yet registered) and of 2 international randomized controlled trials (ROMA, NCT03217006 and STICH3C, NCT05427370). I frequented clinical trials courses to acquire Good Clinical Practices certificate and competences related to study coordination. During the last years, I received 16 national collective awards and 1 individual international educational grant. I am coauthor of > 30 scientific articles in international peer-review journals and 2 letters to the editor. I am statistical reviewer of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. I have been mentoring and supervising students of integrated master medical students (>10 students), 2nd cycle master programs (3) and I am co-supervisor and principal supervisor of 2 PhD students. Furthermore, I was member of Organization Committee and of Scientific Committee of National Congresses. After completion of the PhD I have also been dedicated to teaching activities at FMUP and more recently at Escola Superior de Saúde (ESS). These teaching activities encompasses the scientific method, statistical contents and final projects tutoring, corroborating my daily practice on clinical research. I am responsible for the Curricular Unit of Clinical Research Methods in the Cardiovascular and Respiratory Doctoral Program. My Master degree was concluded in 2015 at FMUP in Health Evidence and Decision with specialization in Clinical Research and my primary background is health-related: Cardiopulmonary Technician since 2012 (ESS).
