Ana Teresa Gomes de Oliveira Manaia

Ana Manaia (F) graduated in Materials Engineering (2003) and MSc degree in Materials Engineering- Surface Engineering (2008) by the University of Coimbra and is now pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the field of thin coatings development. Senior researcher at the Laboratory for Wear, Testing & Materials (LED&MAT) of the Pedro Nunes Institute since 2003, she was appointed as the coordinator of the R&D project unit of LED&MAT in 2008. Member of The Centre for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes - CEMMPRE (Research Unit nº 285 of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) at Coimbra University since 2005, she is involved at Surface and Interface Engineering Scientific area group, she is skilled in a wide range of physical, chemical and mechanical techniques for material characterization. Due to the professional position in a Interface Center (IPN) since 2008, she have relevant expertise on R&D projects coordination/technical management, she has been involved in more than 35 EU and National projects in the materials field in cooperation with European and Nacional universities, technological centers and business companies. In the past 13 years, she have been participating in several project meetings, conferences, dissemination events and involved on the reporting of the project activities to the funding organizations. Under the Master thesis and PhD, she published 6 scientific publications at peer review journals and conducted oral and poster presentations in international conferences. Since 2012 she assists the European commission on European projects evaluation and monitoring: - FP7 - Nanomaterials and Materials science – 2012-2013; Executive Agency for Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) with tasks in the context of managing of EU and Euratom research and innovation programmes – 2015- present. She is also member of the Portuguese Advisory Group for Horizon 2020 – GNAD. She is the legal representative of IPN at PoolNET- Engineering and tooling cluster since 2012. She is member of the working group of Impact at European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO).
