Joana Miguel da Costa Moreira

Joana Miguel Moreira has a background in theatre animation, has worked as an actress and puppeteer for over a decade, and has taught Dramatic Expression at various institutions. She is a researcher at CITCEM (Transdisciplinary Research Centre "Culture, Space and Memory"), having developed and collaborated on various theatrical research projects. She is the author of several articles and communications and a trainer in the field of contemporary theatre history. After graduating in History from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, she went on to do her Master's degree and the crossroads between History and Theatre, which resulted in the publication of her dissertation by the Centro República and Caleidoscópio - "O Teatro no Porto no período entre guerras - Os Teatros Carlos Alberto e S. João (1914-1945)". As an FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) scholarship holder, she completed her PhD in History at the same Faculty, deepening her studies in the area of theatre in Porto, in terms of performance spaces, chronological markers and issues. Her PhD led to the books "O Teatro no Porto na I República (1910-1926)" (2021) and "O Teatro no Porto na Ditadura Militar e Estado Novo (1926-1974)", also published by Caleidoscópio.
