Joana Vieira is a Senior Researcher at CoLAB ForestWISE - Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest & Fire Management, in Vila Real, and an integrated researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology of the University of Coimbra. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology (University of Coimbra, 2013) and a master in Ecology (University of Coimbra, 2008). In the last 20 years, she has developed research in dendrochronology, cambial activity and wood formation of Mediterranean tree species. Her current research interests are forest ecology, forest resilience to global climate change, non-wood forestry products and bioeconomy. She is currently working on promoting and adding-value to non-wood forestry products (natural resin), to reinforce the national bioeconomy, promote territorial cohesion and improve forest resilience to rural fires. Joana Vieira has an h-index of 18, with 30 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, gathering more than 1500 citations.
