Marta Manso (MM) is an assistant researcher from FCT-NOVA at LIBPhys (since 2015) and VICARTE (since 2020), and an invited assistant professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon (UL) in the department of Art and Heritage Sciences (since 2013). She holds a degree (2002) and a Ph.D. (2011) in Physics, and a master in Biophysics (2005) from the Faculty of Sciences UL. She was a fellow of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology at the Atomic Physics Centre UL. MM is an expert in XRF spectrometry and research on the development of quantitative methods, portable spectrometers, and the application of analytical methodologies to Cultural Heritage. MM authored 84 publications (68 in scientific journals, 10 in conference proceedings, 5 in book chapters) and co-edited 1 book. Her scientific publications, 27 in Q1, and 20 in Q2 journals, have 917 citations in 647 documents. MM participated in over 70 conferences, 11 as invited speaker. She was involved in over 30 science outreach activities, with 10 publications. MM participated in more than 20 research projects, 1 as principal investigator. She supervised 10 master students and evaluated 4 master theses. She was in the scientific committee for the HERITAS-Heritage Studies Ph.D. funded program (2010-14) and a consultant to the European X-ray Spectrometry Association (EXSA) (2018-2022). She is in the scientific committees of 3 international conferences. MM was distinguished with several awards as the "Best Poster Award" at the International Conference on Analytical Techniques in Art and Cultural heritage (2009), the "Young PhD Award" from EXSA (2012), and the "Scientific Award" from the Municipality of Sesimbra, Portugal (2017). MM organized 20 conferences, 4 as chair. She is on the editorial board of Heritage, guest editor of 3 scientific journals and participates as expert in peer-reviewing articles for scientific journals.
