Marco S. Lucas is Auxiliary Researcher and deputy head of chemistry department at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. Holds a PhD in Chemistry, a Master in Environmental Technology and a Degree in Environmental Engineering and Natural Resources. In 2015 he was awarded with a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Comission which was carried out at the Chemical Engineering Department, Loughborough University (UK). His main research interests are i) water and wastewater treatment, ii) advanced oxidation processes, iii) homogeneous photocatalysis, iv) heterogeneous photocatalysis, v) solar photocatalysis, vi) environmental chemistry, vii) biosorption and viii) biologic processes. To date has published >65 publications in top-ranked and peer-reviewed journals, 1 patent, 5 book chapters and more than 100 conference proceedings and communications (oral and poster). He owns an h-index of 29 and more than 3500 citations. He has been awarded with three prizes: i) Prize Dr. Francisco da Fonseca Henriques - Research, Development and Innovation awarded by the Administração da Região Hidrográfica do Norte, I.P, Portugal; ii) Prize APRH 2010/11, Area of Basic Sciences and Nature, awarded by the Associação Portuguesa dos Recursos Hídricos (APRH), Portugal, both assigned to his PhD thesis and iii) Prize Young Researcher 2013 - University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
