Paul Oluwatomipe ADEKOLA completed the Doctor of Philosophy in Demography & Social Statistics in 2019/12/18 from Covenant University, Master in Demography & Social Statistics in 2016/05/06 from Covenant University, Master in Geography in 2011/09/27 from University of Ibadan and Bachelor in Geography & Planning Sciences in 2006/12/05 from Adekunle Ajasin University. He is a Visiting Researcher in Universidade de Coimbra Centro de Investigação em Antropologia e Saúde and Assistant Professor in Covenant University. He has published about 30 articles in journals. Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with emphasis on Economic and Social and Cultural Geography. Paul O. Adekola has about ten years of active teaching, research and administrative experience at the university level in Nigeria. He is a trained Geographer, Demographer and Social Statistician with expertise in Migration (Internal and International), Population & Development, Population & Health, Gender & Women Studies, Quantitative as well as Qualitative Data Analysis among others. He is well-published with about 30 scientific articles revolving around his research interests in various international peer-reviewed high impact journals and authored a motivational book titled, "The Power of Choice". Paul is passionate about migrants, including displaced persons and other vulnerable populations. He has led field training on humanitarian assistance in the camp context, post-displacement economic independence, intra-camp skills development, and pre-return needs assessment with displaced persons at different IDPs camps in North-East Nigeria. Paul reviews regularly for many reputable journals, especially those indexed in Scopus. He has attended fully sponsored academic conferences and research trainings in Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, South Africa, Portugal, Spain and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Paul is a recipient of the prestigious and highly coveted Coimbra Scholarship, an annual scholarship awarded to very bright young scholars and promising early-career researchers from Africa to conduct three-month research at the University of Coimbra, Portugal and other associated universities in Europe. He is also a recipient of the Association of Commonwealth University (ACU) Scholarship for training on Migration and Climate Change held at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana in August 2020. He is a member of relevant professional bodies such as the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), Union for African Population Studies (UAPS), Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) and Population Association of Nigeria (PAA), among others. He recently joined the Migration Health and Development Research Initiative (MHADRI), an arm of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a volunteer for reviewing articles related to migration and health. Paul is a gifted data communicator who can win customers and investors over through data-driven analysis and skilful but simple presentation. His ability to work cohesively in a team comprising people of different races and colours and in a friendly manner endears him to his students and fellow researchers. He is happily married and blessed with two children.
