2018 - Current | Job interview preparation- Together with Prof. Jennifer Morgan and Dr. Silvia Torelli, guidance and advice are provided to
those who ask for it for preparation for job interviews at the lecturer level and above. Two candidates have taken advantage
of this support and have both successfully obtained lecturer positions. (2018)

2017 - Current | Presentation skills- I initiated and implemented a system within the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Cantre to teach effective presentation
skills to scientists in our group. This takes the form of group feedback and discussion on the quality and clarity of presentations
given at group lab meetings, and mandatory rehearsals of any oral presentations to be given by members of the DNC at any event. (2017)

University College London- Institute of Child Health- Dubowitz Neuromuscular Unit, United Kingdom |
2017 - Current | Grant brainstorming sessions- I initiated and implemented within the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Center (although this is now
expanding to include the ION and some collaborator groups) regular sessions where grant applications that are in preparation
or have not been awarded are reviewed and constructive criticism is provided in a friendly open environment. Although participation
is voluntary for junior members, attendance and participation has been high. More junior people have written and submitted
grant applications, with a high rate of success. (2017)

|
2012 - 2014 | Organizer of the Research in Progress meetings for the Center for Gene Therapy- This is a monthly hour long meeting where
post-doctoral fellows and students from each of the eight independent research labs of our Center present their most current
research in a formal 35 min presentation followed by discussion. These meetings allow for group review of projects and group
guidance/mentoring of trainees. (2012 - 2014)

|
The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, United States |
2011 - 2014 | Faculty Forum- I am one of the creators of this committee that provides an essential forum for faculty to discuss faculty-related
matters and seeks to find practical, actionable solutions to problems in close collaboration with administration. We have
tackled issues such as the development of junior faculty mentoring programs, increasing the engagement of our trainees and
promoting their education, and implementing organizational changes that increase our competitiveness for NIH grants and career
awards. (2011 - 2014)

2009/04 - 2010/04 | Member of Organizing Committee-This committee organises the 2- day annual research retreat of the entire research institute.
I have served on this committee for two years and I have contributed significant changes to how the retreat was formatted.
In particular, I instituted travel awards for the best presentations to allow trainees to present their work at a national
scientific meeting, and brought in external judges to increase the visibility of our Institute’s research and promote new
collaborations. (2009/04 - 2010/04)

2012/09 - 2013/08 | The Myology Training Course course is unique in North America. It is an intensive one week course that combines lectures, wet labs, and visits to the clinic. My lecture on muscle development serves as an introduction to the entire Myology Training Course by providing information on muscle development, muscle structure and muscle regeneration that is essential to our understanding of muscle diseases that manifest post-natally. | Myology Training Course | The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, United States |
2012/03 - 2012/05 | The goal of this course was to introduce students to various experimental treatment approaches and to the process leading from the bench to a clinical trial. We designed the course to directly engage students by having them work in pairs to come up with a strategy to test a novel treatment approach for a disease of their choice for which no treatment is available. The strategy was presented to the entire class and was evaluated by the group for feasibility, cost, likelihood of success, and its potential for translation to a clinical setting. | Advanced IBGP Seminar Course | The Ohio State University College of Medicine, United States |
2011/08 - 2011/08 | This is a series of lectures for undergraduate students who are interested in a career in research or medicine. The goal is for students to get an appreciation of the different paths that researchers have taken in their career to find their vocation. | Young Scientist Education Series | The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, United States |
2010/11 - 2010/12 | Invited Lecture. “Using shotgun proteomics to dissect protein complexes: an example from the heart”. | Oral Bioseminar Course | The Ohio State University, United States |

2006/09 - 2006/11 | “Viral gene therapy and stem cell therapy”- The goal of this course was to give students an in depth understanding of the uses and challenges associated with stem- and gene-based treatment approaches. We designed the course to promote student participation by engaging them in discussions with invited speakers on a variety of topics such as ethical issues, potential patient concerns for participation in clinical trials, risk versus benefit assessment. | Advanced IBGP Seminar Course | The Ohio State University College of Medicine, United States |
