Carla Queirós completed her PhD in Forestry Engineering and Natural Resources in 2019 (Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade de Lisboa). She has a Master (2010) and Bachelor degree (2008) in Technological Chemistry by Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa. She is a researcher in Centro de Ciências Moleculares e Materiais since 2011 that was absorbed by Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), where she is the Deputy coordinator of group 10 (Molecular Thermophysics and Fluid Technology) and where an Integrated member from 2020 until 2022. Nowadays, she is an Integrated member at CERENA but continues as a collaborator of CQE and group 10 deputy coordinator. She has published 12 articles in international journals (one as a corresponding author) and a book chapter. The articles untitled Ionic Liquids: A Review of Their Toxicity to Living Organisms (2021) and Thermophysical Properties of 1-Hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [C6mim][(CF3SO2)2N]:New Data, Reference Data, and Reference Correlations were selected as one of the highest cited papers, in 2021, of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and of the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, respectively. She is also one of the guest editors of the Material special issue: Internal Expansive Reactions in Concrete: Causes, Inhibition, Prevention, and Structures Preservation (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/materials/special_issues/48TENDW6FX). In 2011, her project was one of the finalists of the COHiTEC program (sponsored by COTEC Portugal). She has attended several national and international conferences with more than 24 oral communications and 10 poster communications. She has co-tutoring 7 Projeto Tecnológico (final project to obtain the degree in Technological Chemistry) and had helped in the organization of 3 scientific events (1 international conference, 1 international symposium and 1 international workshop). She also developed some research abroad: From 6-1-2013 to 21-01-2013, she visited the National Chemistry Laboratory in Pune, India; From 8-3-2015 to 31-03-2015, she was a invited researcher at University of Concepcion, Campus Chillan, Chile; From 3-1-2017 to 24-04-2017 she made an internaship at Dr. Alistair King group, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki. Her research has focused on the determination of the thermophysical properties of ionic liquids and other heat transfer fluids as well as in the study and development of greener heat transfer fluids using lignocellulosic biomass to enhance the properties of the base fluids. Other main focus of her career is the use of lignocellulosic biomass to develop new greener materials for the production of polymers or to use as Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs), for example. Methods to identify and/or prevent the alkali-silica reactions on concrete is also another scientific interest.
