PhD by the University of Minho since October 2019, with the PhD project "Inhibition of Fungal Growth and Mycotoxin Production by Lactic Acid Bacteria" and MSc in Biomedical Engineering also by University of Minho (2008) with the project "Enhance of the Porosity of Electrospun Nanofiber Meshes for Tissue Engineering Applications". Since then, participated as a research fellow in 4 scientific projects. In those projects has acquire scientific competencies in the area o molecular biology (gene deletion), fermentation of bacteria (preparation of defined media and GC-MS analysis) and in strategies of detoxification of mycotoxins (which involved bacteria isolation and culture, antifungal tests and HPLC analysis). Currently, Ana is a Post-Doc researcher in the project BetterFat4Meat, where she is responsible for lipid profile and microbiological analysis of new meat products. Researcher with extensive experience in mycotoxin analysis, mycology, microbiology techniques and characterisation techniques, developed in the context of food contaminants and food biotechnology. In total she has published 10 papers in peer-review journals, two in the area of Medical Biotechnology with emphasis on Biomaterials and the remaining in the area of Food Biotechnology, particularly related to mycotoxins and edible films and coatings. Ana has also published a book chapter and participated in several international conferences and has participated in activities of science dissemination and tutoring students. Currently, has more than 10 years of scientific career always with a strong component in laboratory work. She is currently aiming to consolidate my scientific career in the field of food safety and biotechnology.
