Celeste Maria Martins Santos-Silva

Celeste Santos e Silva, Biologist by vocation and training, divides her interests between Flora and Funga, being the forest environment what fascinates her most and has motivated her to perform research, scientific dissemination, and university extension in the cited scientific domains. Completes the Biologist degree at University of Lisbon Sciences Faculty and soon initiates her career as Trainee-Assistant at Évora University Biology Department (DBIO). Carried out the Teaching ability and Scientific capacity Thesis and afterwards finished her PhD Thesis in 2002 at Évora University. Actually, she is Assistant Professor at DBIO, full member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, Applied Ecology and Conservation Group and Head of Macromycology Laboratory. Coordinated 11 projects (PI), 2 (Co-PI), participated as researcher in other 16 projects and lead 15 financed university extension contracts with local landowners. Published 8 books, 8 books chapters, 31 articles in journals, 5 Conference papers, 39 Conference abstracts and have a registered European patent. Performed 38 oral communications, the majority by invitation, and organized 17 events. Authored 6 magazine articles, 4 Newspaper articles, 11 online resources and an Mural panel. Supervised 1 PhD Thesis, 10 Master Dissertations, 9 Degree Dissertations (Pre-Bologna), 40 Pedagogical Final reports, 19 Project reports (Post-Bologna), 5 Professional internships (9-12 months each) and 6 Volunteers. Taught 21 courses of which was responsible for 11. Organized and participated in 3 scientific expeditions. She was present in the media with more than 6 interviews on TV and radio, and participate in art projects, leads by local artists.
