Raquel Rodrigues is graduated in Biotechnology Engineering with Master¿s in Biomedical Technology. In December 2018, she concluded her PhD degree at Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with the theme: Magnetic carbon nanostructures and study of their transport in microfluidic devices for hyperthermia. During this period, Dr. Raquel Rodrigues was awarded with a Fulbright Research Grant at Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA), headed by Prof. Ali Khademhosseini, aiming the development of organs-on-a-chip for the screening of nanomaterials designed for biomedical applications. In 2018, she received a grant in the framework of NASA International Internship Program (NASA I2), at Ames Research Center Moffett Field (California, USA) to develop biosensors for life detection. In 2019, Dr. Rodrigues won the Fraunhofer Best Portuguese PhD Thesis competition in Biomedical Engineering. In 2021, Dr. Rodrigues was granted with a Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral researcher (MSCA-IF Global) at INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (Braga, Portugal) with secondment at Harvard Medical school (Brigham Women's Hospital, MA, USA), in the project BrainChip4Med, completed in February 2024. In 2020, she was awarded with a FCT grant for 72 months in the individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus (3rd Edition), aiming the integration of bio(sensors) in multiorgan-on-a-chip devices developed for nanomedicine studies (2020.03975.CEECIND), at CMEMS-U.Minho. She has been enrolled in 13 R&D projects, 3 as PI and 1 co-PI, published 32 papers in specialized international journals, 6 book chapters, 5 papers in conference proceedings, and presented 24 poster and 17 oral communications in national and international scientific meetings and 1 provisional WO Patent. Having a total of 958 citations and h-index 18 (Scopus Author ID: 56492240500). Raquel Rodrigues supervised 7 master students (6 concluded) and 1 PhD student (ongoing). As served as invited professor of the integrated master¿s in biomedical engineering medical electronics branch, teaching a Biosensors module in the 4th year class of Integrated Laboratories of Electronics I at UM. She is also guest-editor of 5 Special Issues related to Organ-on-a-chip, Bioprinting and Nanomaterials.
