I have a BSc in Applied Biology (2009) and a MSc in Micro/Nano Technologies (2012) - University of Minho, Portugal. In December 2020, I finished my PhD in Chemical and Biological engineering at the same institution. The work developed under the scope of my Master thesis involved the development of nanoparticle-based formulations for skin topical delivery. Having continuously worked with nanotechnology, I have broad experience in the preparation and biochemical characterization of several nanoparticles for cosmetic and medical applications. Over the last years, working as a researcher for several projects, I also developed different skills in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. In a particular way, with my PhD project, I became quite proficient in the management of mammalian cell cultures and preparation of histological samples. Likewise, I became quite acquainted with the principles of cosmetic/pharmaceutical formulation and regulation, clinical trials/studies, and good clinical practices. The collection and statistical data analysis for the preparation of scientific papers and patents have also been part of the work performed under these projects.
