António Galvão graduated and holds a MSc in Environmental Engineering from NOVA FCT, where he has been working as a researcher since 2008. His research interests focus on life cycle analysis and environmental performance comparison of products, sustainable management of natural systems and sensitive areas, remote sensing and data science applications to natural and environmental sciences. Nevertheless, his natural curiosity and his eagerness to learn have driven his research pathway, and he has had the opportunity to work across a diverse range of subjects, such as energy efficiency, air pollution modelling, corporate environmental communication, development of environmental indicators, ecosystems services valuation or remote sensing for environmental monitoring and land use management. Besides his research activities, he also provides valuable help and support to the Environmental Engineering MSc students. António is currently a PhD student at NOVA FCT Doctoral Program in Environment and Sustainability, where he intends to use open data to develop open-source, user-friendly tools to be used in different environmental applications. In his free time, António is a nature lover, spelunker, and outdoors sports enthusiast, an amateur mechanic, a fabricator, a musician, and a chess fan.
