My name is Tiago Rôxo Aguiar and I’m a PhD Candidate in Psychology at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon (Iscte-Iul). Additionally, I’m a research fellow in the EWRI project at BRU-Iscte, as well as an Invited Assistant Lecturer in Psychometrics for the undergraduate program in Psychology at Iscte-Iul. My PhD project aims to explore some of the psychological and behavioral implications of social media platforms, more specifically the individual impacts of cancel culture prevention. I’m supervised by Professor Diniz Lopes (Iscte-Iul & CIS-Iscte, Dean of the School of Social Sciences) and Professor Thomas R. Brooks (New Mexico Highlands University). The EWRI project, on the other hand, aims to understand the impacts of Perceived Organizational Exploitation, using novel methodologies, such as diary studies complemented by FitBit data. This project is supervised by Professor Sandra Costa (BRU-Iscte) and Professor Jacqueline Coyle-Shapiro (California State University & London School of Economics and Political Science). I have a MSc in Social and Organizational Psychology and a BSc in Psychology, both from Iscte-Iul. The Times Higher Education ranking considered Iscte-Iul to be the best Portuguese university in the field of Psychology, and it is among the best 250 universities in the world. I have published three papers as a first author, completed one book chapter participation (with three others already accepted and in the works), and multiple conference presentations, both at the national and international levels. I am passionate about people, puzzles, and technology. This explains my research interests: social media, psychometrics, Cancel Culture, computer-mediated communication, social norms, and, in a broader sense, social psychology as a whole. It also explains my personal interests and hobbies: programming, sports, and games. Feel free to reach out if you wish to collaborate and/or discuss something.
