Bárbara Silva (BS) is BSc in Criminal and Forensic Sciences since 2012, MSc in Forensic Sciences since 2015 and PhD in Experimental and clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology since 2021. Over the last years, BS have been specializing in R&D activities, in two different but complementary areas: Analytical and Organic Chemistry and Toxicology. BS acquired advanced skills in analytical and semi preparative HPLC, GC-MS, purification of preparative samples, in vitro culture of different cell lines (Caco-2, HaCaT, Calu-3 and SH-SY5Y cell line), metabolic studies with stem cells (2D and 3D) and liver microsomes, cytotoxic and oxidative stress assays, and in data analysis and interpretation with statistical software (GraphPad). BS monitored 3 Erasmus students and 1 MSc student. BS has 14 publications (7 as 1st author) in international peer-review journals and has an h-index of 6 in Scopus. BS also collaborates in two international projects TOX-OER (Learning Toxicology through Open Educational Resources) and OEMONOM (Open access Educational Materials on Naturally Occurring Molecules). In 2019, BS participated in the organization of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology (SPF), held at the University of Porto. BS has disseminated her research results to the national and international community through 12 posters presentations, 10 oral communications, 1 electronic communication and 1 communication by invitation (speaker). To complement her research skills, in 2021, BS completed the postgraduate course in laboratory animal science (Felasa B). Between September of 2021 and April of 2022 BS worked at the renowned pharmaceutical industry BIAL, in the DMPK service, being responsible for the in vivo PK studies performed in rodents. Since June 2022, I am a researcher on FFUP, where I worked on the scope of the FCT-funded MEDECOR project, determining antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity of medical devices prototypes. I am also currently co-supervising two MSc student. These projects involve developing physiologically relevant cellular systems for predicting the bioavailability of dry powder inhalation products and conducting in vitro toxicokinetic/toxicodynamic studies of synthetic cathinones, evaluating the influence of chirality. I am also currently collaborating in two Erasmus + Projects, namely, OEMONOM and INES. Finally, recently (April 2023), I signed a contract with REQUINTE for a junior researcher position with the aim of a nose-to-brain model development.
