I completed a BSc in Biochemistry (2022) at the University of Minho, where I was first introduced to stem cell biology in the context of Parkinson’s disease. I then pursued a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, where I strengthened my molecular background and developed key research skills through continuous laboratory work. As part of my MSc, I completed a research rotation at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), working on polydopamine-based SERS biosensing platforms. For my master’s thesis, I joined Dr. António Salgado’s team at ICVS (ReNEU team), focusing on the mechanisms behind the effect of the adipose-derived stem cell (ASCs) secretome in a 2D in vitro model of spinal cord injury. This work led to a co–first-author publication, a selected oral presentation, as well as four international and national conference presentations. Alongside my thesis, I also supported in vivo studies, gaining experience in surgery follow-up and animal care. These experiences helped me grow as a researcher and strengthened my interest in regenerative medicine
