Miguel Peixoto de Almeida got his First Degree in Biochemistry in 2007 (University of Porto), his Master's Degree in Biochemistry in 2009 (University of Porto), and his PhD Degree in Sustainable Chemistry in 2019 (University of Aveiro, NOVA Lisbon and University of Porto). He started his research activities in 2010 at the Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering - Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials Associate Laboratory (LSRE-LCM, FEUP). He was then a member of the Associate Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV, REQUIMTE) from 2013 to 2021, Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (UCIBIO, REQUIMTE), in 2021, and CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials (Aveiro University) from 2022 to 2023. He is now an integrated member of Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy / Associate Laboratory in Chemical Engineering (LEPABE/ALiCE, FEUP). He has experience in synthesis and characterization of nanostructured carbon materials, in synthesis and characterization of metal (Ag, Au, Se) nanoparticles, nanobioconjugation for sensing applications and supercritical fluid extraction. He is co-author of 2 book chapters, 4 conference abstracts, and 29 journal papers. With a current h-index of 15 and 926 citations (data from Scopus). Acted as invited peer-reviewer 32 times. Regarding research communication, he is co-author of 41 posters and 9 works showcased as oral presentations. He has been a team member of 6 research projects, funded by multiple entities (public and private), and keeps collaborating with researchers from multiple institutions, such as CENIMAT|i3N (Portugal), NOVA School of Science and Technology (Portugal), Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine from NOVA Lisbon (Portugal), Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (Portugal), University of Brasília (Brazil), Piauí Federal University (Brazil), Babes-Bolyai University (Romania) and University of Lincoln (UK). He has been supervisor/co-supervisor/tutor of Chemistry or Biochemistry students, with a total of 6 First Degree, 7 Master, and 4 Extra-curricular Program students, in their laboratory First Degree Projects, Master's Dissertations, and extra-curricular projects, respectively, at Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. In 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 curricular years, he acted as Invited Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, integrating the teaching teams of "Nanotechnology and Bionanotechnology" and "Bioinorganic Chemistry" courses. He also contributed to scientific dissemination through science extra-curricular activities taught in elementary schools.
