I have pursued a dedicated exploration of the microbiological world and its cellular and molecular mechanisms, shaping my scientific journey from my undergraduate studies to my current role as a PhD student in Biology at the NOVA Faculty of Sciences and Technologies. Commencing with a Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at FCT-UNL, I gained a solid understanding of the fundamental dogmas and foundations of molecular and cell biology. To complement my knowledge, I immersed myself in the virology laboratory at the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária (INIAV), where I honed my skills in molecular diagnostics tests relevant to the field. Eager to deepen my comprehension of microbiology, I pursued a Master's degree in Medical Microbiology at FCT-UNL. During this period, I chose to specialize in the study of gram-positive bacterial pathogens, culminating in a postgraduate course at the Laboratory of Pathogenesis and Bacterial Cell Surfaces. Subsequently, I secured a PhD fellowship to further my research in gram-positive bacteria, focusing specifically on their mechanisms of cell wall metabolism and related enzymes. My academic journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in molecular and cell biology, combined with specialized expertise in microbiology, particularly in the intricate workings of gram-positive bacteria. Armed with these skills and knowledge, I am driven by the ambition to unravel the complexities of molecular and cell processes, particularly focusing on gram-positive bacteria and contribute meaningfully to the scientific community's collective knowledge.
