Maryam Abbasi is an assistant invited Professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra (ISEC) and Instituto Superior de Miguel Torga (ISMT). She is a member of the Laboratory of Artificial Neural Networks (LARN) at the Adaptive Computation group (AC)of the Centre for Informatics and Systems (CISUC) , Department of Informatics Engineering, University of Coimbra since 2011. Maryam Abbasi completed her PhD in Ciências e Tecnologias da Informação (Evolutionary computation algorithm subarea of artificial intelligence) in 2019/03/18 at the Department of Informatic Engineering, University of Coimbra and got her master her in Computer Science from the University of Tehran and bachelor degree in Computer Science from University of Tehran. Her research has been in machine learning, deep learning, pattern recognition, multiobjective optimization, big data streams, sequence alignment, iterated local search, decision support systems and biological applications. Currently, she is focused on deep learning and information generation from gene expression and molecular structure. Maryam Abbasi has co-authored more than 60 publications, of which 13 are in international high-impact peer-reviewed journals and 17 are book chapters. She has also been a reviewer in several international journals. In the last years, she has supervised students and was responsible for supervising 1 PhD student, 7 Master students and 3 undergrad students. she has received 3 awards and/or honours. She also worked as a consulter/Researcher at the 0and1 Information Technology company and participated in different projects in the subfield of artificial intelligence area. In her curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural output are Machine Learning; Deep learning; Pattern Recognition; Multiobjective Optimization; Evolutionary Algorithm; Computational Biology, big data and drug design.
