João Fortunato obtained his degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in November 2022. His master's dissertation focused on establishing a strategy for reducing fugitive emissions from diffuse sources, applied to a vegetable oil extraction industry. Since October 2023, he has been a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at IST and has joined the GrAPHy team, a project part of the M2N (Moving2Neutrality) agenda. The project aims to study the production of green ammonia, decarbonizing the current process and enabling its application as part of a sustainable energy transition. His current work focuses on the decarbonization of a conventional ammonia plant by modeling and optimizing the gradual incorporation of green hydrogen.
