João Carlos Saraiva Leocádio has a degree in Biotechnology by Coimbra College of Agriculture (ESAC-IPC) and completed his master in Biodiversity and Plant Biotechnology by University of Coimbra in 2018. Currently, he is a PhD student at the Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products Research Centre (CIEPQPF), Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Coimbra. João Leocádio works in the field of Agrarian Sciences, Natural sciences and Engineering and Technology. His main interests include the strategies for the valorization of biological resources and his research activities have been focused on management of invasive species, especially on Pine Wilt Disease control measures. As a member of the Green and Sustainable Processes Laboratory headed by Professor Hermínio C. de Sousa, he participated as research fellow in 2 projects funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and lately has integrated a project of the University of Coimbra that aimed to obtain Sustainable Edible Polymeric Films.
