Nídia de Sousa integrated the ICVS/3B's Associate Laboratory staff as Researcher in 2020 joining a team focus in Neural Trauma and Nervous System Regenerative Medicine. Here, she developed an independent research line that aims to study new therapeutic approaches for spinal cord injury using the modulation of GABA system as main effector. She formed her own team, with independent funding (FCT grant 2021, 50K) and 3 undergraduate students and a research fellow. During her scientific path Nídia worked in different institutes and countries, performed her PhD in the University of Barcelona in Spain (2013-2017), had a collaboration with the European Space Agency in the Netherlands (2015-2016) and worked at NOVA Lisbon University, CEDOC in Portugal (2018-2020) before moving to ICVS in Braga, Portugal. Her CV count with 15 papers (all in the last 6 years, 9 as first author), participation in 10 fully funded research projects (5 are still ongoing, > 700K), more than 130 citations and 15 students supervisions.
