I have been directly involved in maternal and child research since 2010, immediately after completing my master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology with the University of Porto (Portugal). I started my professional activity collaborating with the Portuguese birth cohort - Generation XXI. Then, between 2011 and 2015, I was a researcher fellow within the European project “Effective Perinatal Intensive Care in Europe” (EPICE). In 2016, I reached an individual fellowship grant, obtained through a national competitive call, from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, to develop a PhD in Public Health (finished in 2021 with the University of Porto). I was focused on breast milk feeding practices in infants born very preterm and to prospectively assess the effect of such practices on neurodevelopmental and mental health outcomes during childhood. I am a member of the research group on Perinatal and Paediatric Epidemiology within the Epidemiology Research Unit of the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto and on the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR). I have been actively involved as a member of the research team in different international research projects: EPICE (FP7), SHIPS (H2020), RECAP preterm (H2020), IMAGINE Euro (WHO Collaborating Centre for Maternal and Child Health). I am the principal investigator of the national project "COVID-19 in pregnancy: obstetric and neonatal outcomes" (FCT, 15K€). I am a full member of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists, specialized in Clinical and Health Psychology. I integrate the Mental Health and Psychosocial Emergency Team of Portuguese Red Cross - Delegation of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, since 2015, with specific training on crisis intervention (participation in Pedrógão Grande Fire, June 2017; COVID-19 pandemic, 2020). I am especially interested in maternal and child health, particularly breastfeeding and prematurity, as well as in the psychosocial emergency response area.
