André B. Oliveira completed his MSc in Electronics Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 2021. He is currently a researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações, where his work focuses on microfluidics, electromagnetic sensors for microplastics detection, and the development of novel electromagnetic techniques for layer-wise inspection in powder bed fusion metal additive manufacturing. In parallel, he is pursuing a PhD at IST, centered on the development of a smart sensing system for real-time microplastics detection. His project has been recognized for its impact and innovation, being selected as one of the winners of the “Programa Transformar” and awarded a 10,000 € grant. He is also an Invited Teaching Assistant for the courses Computer Organization and Introduction to Computer Architecture at the Department of Computer Engineering (DEI), IST. In addition, he has co-supervised one MSc thesis and is currently co-supervising two ongoing MSc theses. His research contributions include 7 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 5 papers in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and 1 patent.
