Prior to joining the University of Porto in 1998, I earned my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Düsseldorf and an MSc from the University of Glasgow and gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2002, I completed a PhD in Algebra, at the University of Düsseldorf and defended my habilitation in Mathematics at the University of Porto in 2011. As of 2019, I hold the position of Associate Professor in Mathematics. Within my department, I have served on the steering boards overseeing the BSc, MSc, and PhD programs in Mathematics. Additionally, I took on the responsibility as the director of the MSc program in Mathematics during 2022-2024. Over the course of my career, I have been the recipient of various scholarships, including a one-year PhD fellowship (in the USA) and a one-month research scholarship from DAAD, a visitor grant from the LMS, and a fellowship from the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics. These experiences have greatly enriched my academic journey, contributing to my expertise and dedication in the field of Mathematics. I have authored over 45 articles in Algebra and penned a monograph on a topic within ring theory. Beyond my contributions to Mathematics, I diversified my academic background by earning an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Hagen in 2019 and enriched my expertise during one semester at the Technical University of Berlin in 2022, where I was engaged in an engineering project using machine learning tools. Since 2015, I have regularly served as an evaluator on multiple Mathematics panels for various Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions funded by the European Commission. This involvement extends across the evaluation of proposals for Individual Fellowships, Postdoctoral Fellowships, International Training Networks, and Joint Doctoral Programs. Beyond my engagement with the European Commission, I have also lent my expertise to the evaluation of proposals for organizations such as the DAAD, the King Baudouin Foundation, and the Austrian Science Fund. Furthermore, I have served as a scientific consultant for a project at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. For an extended period, I have dedicated my service to the academic community as a member of the editorial boards. Specifically, I have been actively involved with the Mathematical Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy and the International Electronic Journal of Algebra for numerous years. More recently, I have extended my commitment to include the Palestine Journal of Mathematics. Throughout my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, I developed a strong foundation in ring and module theory, knowledge that contributed to the creation of the widely used monograph ``Lifting Modules''. In my doctoral studies I applied this knowledge to questions in the theory of quantum groups, more precisely to the study of Hopf algebras and their representation theory. Since then, my primary goal has been to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between the distinct research communities specializing in ring theory and quantum groups. Over the past two decades, I have established a quite extensive international network, collaborating with colleagues from various countries. Partnerships include collaborative work on ring theory with colleagues such as S. Koenig from Stuttgart, Germany, J. Matczuk from Warsaw, Poland, E. Buyukasik from Izmir, Turkey, J. Abuhlail from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and recently also with M.Yousif from Ohio, USA. Additionally, my collaborative efforts extend to topics in quantum groups and non-commutative geometry, involving colleagues like T. Brzezinski from Swansea, UK, C. Hatipoglu from Kuwait, and A. Sant'Ana from Porto Alegre, Brazil. Through my role in supervision and teaching, I have supervised six doctoral theses, all of which focused on Hopf algebras, resulting in the production of 8 research articles.
