Ana Luísa Veloso is an assitant researcher at INET-md - Institute of Ethnomusicology - Centre for Studies in Music and Dance from Aveiro Universiy, where she is now developing the project “A Sound Centered approach to Music Education: A Pedagogical Framework for a new paradigm in teaching and learning music during childhood”, financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. She holds a PhD in Music in the field of Pedagogy that she concluded in 2012 at Aveiro University with a scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. From 2015 to 2020 she was a postdoctoral fellow at CIPEM - Centre for Research in Music Psychology and Music Education, a pole of INET-md at Politécnico do Porto. Here, she had the opportunity to broaden her knowledge and expertise in areas such as Music Education, Musical Creativity, Composition and Improvisation, Contemporary and Experimental Music in Educational Contexts, Formal and Non-formal Contexts of Learning, or Music, Personal and Social Transformation, that are key in her work nowadays. Her national and international recognition is visible mainly through a) Oral communications as guest speaker in conferences or seminars; b) Chapters in books, among which are highlighted the recent contributions to the Oxford Handbook of Music Composition Pedagogy and The Routledge Companion to Teaching Music Composition in Schools; c) Article publications in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, such as Music Education Research, The British Journal of Music Education or The Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education; d) Presentation of papers and posters in national and international conferences; e) Invited reviewer of leading journals in her knowledge fields such as Psychology of Music, Revista Orfeu, or International Journal of Music in Early Childhood; and f) Proved leadership of research, artistic and educational projects in these areas. Furthermore, and also evidencing her national and international recognition, she was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association for Music Education (APEM), the Portuguese Representative at the International Society for Music Education (ISME) of the ISME National Affiliates Council (Portuguese INA), Editor of Revista Portuguesa de Educação Musical and National coordinator of the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS). She is also an Artist/Member of Sonoscopia Associação (Portugal), where she actively pursues her activity as a musician and guitar player, collaborating in projects related to improvisation, contemporary and experimental music and sound art.
