Antje Disterheft is a postdoctoral researcher and integrated member at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (CENSE) at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, working in the field of transformational sustainability research. Her current project deals with narratives of transformation in science-society interfaces and transdisciplinary research approaches, aiming to find out more about the perceived quality of collaboration in such interactions. She holds a PhD degree in Social Sustainability, and is specialised in Higher Education for Sustainability and sustainability assessment tools. Within her PhD, she developed a model for holistic assessment of participatory processes in sustainability initiatives, directing the focus on the dimensions of learning and reflexivity. She obtained two research grants (phd and postdoc) and has more than 10 publications (six peer-reviewed articles -four as first author-; three book chapters -two as first author-; one co-edited special issue). She is highly experienced in qualitative research methods, scientific communication (more than 15 oral presentations, one as an invited speaker), workshop facilitation, online education and diverse e-learning platforms. Furthermore, she is strongly familiar with event organisation, such as scientific conferences, meetings and summer schools. She received three distinctions, as e.g. selected candidate for the Postdoc Academy for Transformational Leadership organised by four leading research institutions in the field of sustainability. She was twice as invited speaker in sustainability event (Freie Universitaet Berlin (DE) and Politecnico Turin (IT)). In her teaching activities, including workshop facilitation, she follows the principles of education for sustainability, aiming to offer space for collaborative and transformative learning. She actively participates as a member in the executive commission of the Portuguese Network Sustainable Campus (Rede Campus Sustentável), as well as in diverse interdisciplinary working groups (governance and gender equality). She has shaped the initial process of developing a sustainability strategy for her faculty and represents her research unit in the then founded sustainability task force of Nova School of Science and Technology. She also collaborates as an invited researcher in the research project "Transdisciplinarity for Urban Sustainability Transitions" (TrUST) of Politecnico Milan, Italy. She speaks five languages and is very experienced in living abroad, having developed a high level of cultural awareness and integration capacities that have been proven to be useful in her research interactions. Her research and teaching interests encompass: (Higher) Education for Sustainability, transformative learning, transdisciplinary research, participation and innovative collaborative methods, capacity building, SDGs.
