André Augusto is currently pursuing a Ph. D. degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), in Lisbon. He is a Teaching Assistant at IST and an early-stage researcher at INESC-ID. He has been working in blockchain interoperability since 2021, and has contributed to different open-source projects in the scope of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) that is paving the way for standardization in blockchain interoperability; and to Hyperledger Cactus, a project under the Hyperledger umbrella also focused on interoperability. He is now redirecting his research to security and privacy in interoperability solutions, which are one of the least explored areas in the field. André has received four awards, mainly due to academic merit in his Bachelor's and Master's degree. His main research interests include distributed systems, blockchain, blockchain interoperability, and decentralized identities.
