In 2009, Sofia Vilela graduated in Nutritional Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences, University of Porto (FCNAUP). In in 2018, she obtained the PhD degree [European Doctorate] in Public Health with the thesis ¿Tracking the acquisition of eating habits in children and its effects on behaviours related to appetite and on adiposity¿, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto. Part of this work was also performed at Leeds University (UK). In 2011-2013, Sofia was involved in a European project [PANEU study], funded by EFSA to conduct a pilot study in the view of a Pan-European dietary survey, involving 7 European countries. She was responsible for coordinating the field study in Porto. Afterwards, she actively participated as a member of the International Consortium for the development of the Portuguese National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 2015-2016. In 2018, Sofia has obtained a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the EPIUnit-ISPUP within FCT-funded project ¿Exposure to food additives and contaminants from food processing and packaging: Defining patterns and their effects on adiposity and cognitive function from childhood to Adolescence¿ (2018-2021), aiming to estimate the human exposure to xenobiotics from food and their effects on adiposity and cognitive function [https://projetofocaccia.wixsite.com/site]. Meanwhile, in the 4th edition of the Individual Call to Scientific Stimulus, Sofia was granted a Scientific Employment as Junior Researcher by FCT, with the project ¿The interplay between chronotype, diet quality and chrono-nutrition from childhood to adulthood and its effects on cardiometabolic health¿ at EPIUnit and ITR. She has lectured several classes in nutrition, public health, and epidemiology and was an Invited Assistant Professor at FCNAUP (2020-2021). Sofia has authored 28 publications in international peer journals in the research fields of nutrition, epidemiology and public health [11 as the first author and 17 as co-author (including three as senior author)] and co-authored four published reports and two book chapters; generating a total of 1172 citations [h-index: 18; i10-index:25, source: Google Scholar, date: 14.09.2023]. She has been also involved in 6 national and 4 international R&D projects. She has received 7 awards and/or honours.
