TELMO MARQUES Pianist, composer, was born in Porto in 1963. He studied with Fernanda Wandschneider, Hélia Soveral, Fernando Lapa, Cândido Lima, Jean Martin, Carlos Cebro, Fernando Puchol, Paul Trein, Miguel Ribeiro Pereira, and Robert Houlihan. In 1988, he completed the former Higher Piano Course at the Porto Conservatory of Music with the highest grade. He holds a degree in piano from the ESMAE "Superior School of Music, Arts, and Performance" (Engineer António de Almeida Award - highest classification); Master of Arts from the University of Roehampton, United Kingdom; Ph.D. in Computer Music from the Portuguese Catholic University (summa cum laude). He maintains an activity as a concert pianist in recitals, training sessions, and educational concerts. He directed the Matosinhos Junior Jazz Orchestra (OJM junior). He develops his activity as a pianist and composer both in Portugal and abroad: Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife, Paris, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Luxembourg, Geneva, Zurich, Macau, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Osaka are some examples. He receives commissions for works for theater, advertising media, cultural organizations, and independent artists - PORTO 2001 European Capital of Culture, Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture, Matosinhos String Quartet, Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra, etc. He has over 100 recorded performances as an interpreter, composer, and arranger. Some of his works are published in score by AVA editions, BIM editions, and Molenaar editions. He is "Professor Adjunto" at ESMAE where he teaches Musical Analysis, Compositional Techniques, Composition, and Music Production. His research activity is carried out at the CEIS20 research center of the University of Coimbra as an integrated member.
