Patricia Correia-Santos is a licensed psychologist (CP 25676) and a Ph.D. in the Psychology of Trauma at the University of Minho. Her academic journey is marked by a commitment to understanding complex trauma and poly-victimization in at-risk youth, a passion reflected in her scholarship from Fundação para Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT: SFRH/BD/129194/2017). Her research has led her across borders, exemplified by her Fulbright research scholarship supported by FCT, which facilitated a pivotal internship at the University of Connecticut - Health Center, USA, in 2021. This international exposure has been instrumental in broadening her research perspective and fostering collaborative relationships, notably with Professor Julian Ford at UConn Health, with whom she is co-authoring several manuscripts. As a part of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies' Future Leadership Group (2022- 2024), she actively contributes to advancing the field. Her research, underpinned by keywords like PTSD, CPTSD, Complex Trauma, Dissociation, Resilience, and Developmental Trauma, has resulted in 12 journal publications, sections in books, and a significant impact in her area of expertise. As a vital part of her research and practice, she has also been engaged in the Bendit-EU program, an initiative focused on addressing burnout in health and allied health universities at various levels. Her role in this project not only enriched her understanding of academic burnout but also allowed her to contribute significantly to creating a supportive academic environment for health-related students and professionals. She has made significant contributions as a student representative in the evaluation processes conducted by A3ES, the National Agency for the Quality of Higher Education in Portugal. In this role, she critically assessed various aspects of higher education, focusing on students' perspectives. Her evaluations covered areas such as curriculum structure, pedagogical strategies, and internship conditions in different study cycles at Portuguese universities. Since commencing her doctoral studies in 2018, she has been engaged in various projects as a PhD Student Fellow and Researcher, where she has collaborated with 81 professionals, contributing to a rich, interdisciplinary dialogue. This experience has sharpened her focus on topics such as child development, trauma, resilience, and the psychosocial impacts of events, particularly in at-risk youth populations. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is a practicing psychologist both privately and at the University of Minho, School of Psychology, where she applies her research insights to real-world challenges.
