Beatriz Painho holds a BSc in Biology, from University of Lisbon and a Master in Biochemistry for Health, from Nova University of Lisbon. Her master thesis project aimed to explore hiPSC-derived 3D neural cultures to model Mucopolysaccharidosis type VII, in order to recapitulate the microenvironment of this ultra-rare disease. Currently, she is a Research Fellow at Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), involved in two main projects: one with the pharmaceutical industry and the CARDIOPATCH project. The latter aims to develop a scalable manufacturing strategy for the production of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) and MSC-derived extracellular vesicles with augmented cardiac potential.
