I am a master in civil engineer, graduated by University of Aveiro, in November of 2016. At this moment I am a research fellow in the research unit RISCO - Aveiro Research Centre of Risks and Sustainability in Construction and my main research topics are: risks in coastal environments, coastal processes, numerical modelling of coastal zones evolution and coastal zones management. During my master degree I focused my studies in hydraulics and I developed my master thesis on the topic of coastal engineering. The main objective of my master thesis, titled "Evolução Morfológica do Litoral Após Alimentações Artificiais de Sedimento", was to study the impact of artificial nourishments as coastal erosion mitigation strategy through the numerical model LTC. In this work I have obtained the final classification of 18/20 values. After a brief period working in a company of civil engineering services, where I did a professional internship in the department of studies and proposals, in January of 2018 I began to collaborate with the research unit RISCO - Aveiro Research Centre of Risks and Sustainability in Construction as a research fellow. My collaboration with RISCO began in the scope of the European Research Project LOCAFIplus - Temperature Assessment of a Vertical Member Subjected to Localised Fires. This European project lasted for 1 year and the main goal was to spread a new calculation methodology of localised fires that will be introduced in the new generation of Eurocodes. From January to June of 2019 I worked in the development of a software to compute the temperature of steel columns subject to localized fires, according to the new methodology introduced by LOCAFIplus (LF - Localised Fires Software). Since July of 2019 I have been collaborating in research projects related to coastal engineering. First, I have participated in MarRisk research project (MarRisk - Coastal Adaptation to Climate Change: Knowing the Risks and Increasing Resilience, financed by EP-INTERREG Spain-Portugal), after I have participated in the research project "Sandtrack Beach Nourishment: an Integrated Methodology for Coastal Management", funding by FCT, and now I am working on the project "Feasibility study of sand transposition on Aveiro and Figueira da Foz tidal inlets" commissioned by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA). In September of 2019, I have decided to begin my PhD in the civil engineering department of Aveiro University on the topic of beach nourishments as coastal defence measure to mitigate coastal erosion risks. In this work, I aim to study the performance of beach nourishments projects and to bring forward proposals to beach nourishments design based on its cost-benefit analysis.
