Eduardo Conde-Sousa completed his PhD in Applied Mathematics at CMUP (Center for Mathematics of the University of Porto) in 2014. He has been working at INEB / i3S (Instituto Nacional de Engenharia Biomédica / Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde) since 2018. In the course of his professional activity, he interacted with more than 100 collaborators, resulting in the co-authorship of 18 scientific papers and the development of 4 software applications and 1 public bioimage analysis repository. He participates and/or has participated in 8 R&D projects (one of them as co- PI) and supervises 6 MSc dissertations. He has organized 5 events: 4 courses and/or workshops; and he is the main organizer of the HEROHE grand-challenge (https://ecdp2020.grand-challenge.org/) with more than 800 participants. He is proficient in several programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and his main research interests are in the development and application of software for mathematical modeling, simulation, and data analysis for the study of biological processes. Over the years, he has developed models and bioinformatics tools for bioimage analysis, neurosciences, genetics, and genomics. Currently, the most important part of his work focuses on the application of machine learning and, in particular, deep learning models to solve biomedical problems.
