Maria do Rosário Ferreira holds a Master’s Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology (Neurobiology specialization) from the University of Coimbra (2024) and a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Aveiro (2022). Maria do Rosário Ferreira has published a paper in the Journal of Neurochemistry and presented multiple posters at scientific conferences. In 2022, she was honored with a Gulbenkian New Talents Scholarship in Biology, which supported her participation in international conferences and provided training opportunities, including certification by DGAV to perform experiments on rodents for scientific purposes. Her research experience, beginning with a bachelor’s internship at iBIMED-Institute of Biomedicine (Aveiro), followed by a summer internship at the Champalimaud Center for the Unknown (Lisbon), and later at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (Coimbra), equipped her with strong problem-solving and networking skills. During this journey, she acquired expertise with patch-clamp electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, mouse genotyping, management of a genetically modified mouse line, cryostat, vibratome, rodent behavioral assays, confocal microscopy, scientific writing, and Adobe Illustrator. Demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills, Maria do Rosário Ferreira served as a patch-clamp experimental tutor in a PhD-level course and mentored an ERASMUS undergraduate student. Maria do Rosário’s scientific interests lie at the intersection of Neurobiology and Brain Disorders, with a focus on the interaction between neurodevelopment, neuronal circuits, and behavior.
