Dr. Marta Couto is a Postdoctoral fellow at INESC-ID, GAIPS. She received a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology in 2016 from ISPA- Instituto Universitário and has been working on HRI/HCI since then. From 2016 to 2018, she was part of "INSIDE: Intelligent Networked Robot Systems for Symbiotic Interaction with Children with Impaired Development" a CMU Portugal Project that developed a robot to mediate a therapy session with children with autism spectrum disorders. The project was a multidisciplinary collaboration between clinicians and researchers. In 2019 she joined INESC-ID, GAIPS and collaborated with AMIGOS (Affect Modeling for robots In GrOup Social interactions), another multidisciplinary team that joined engineers and psychologists. In 2020 she joined iv4XR - Intelligent Verification/Validation for Extended Reality Based Systems, a European project coordinated by INESC-ID. In this project, she has been researching User Experience (UX) and Cognitive Load in games and collaborating in studies to develop computational tools to test user experience based on models of emotion. The work combines theories from psychology, user studies, and experimental psychology techniques to improve computational models for UX testing. Within Iv4XR, she is part of the management Workpackage of the project and the project's ethics board. She is also involved in several dissemination activities, especially those aimed at reaching a more extensive, non-technical audience. Aside from the current project, she has ongoing collaborations with researchers from other institutions and has co-organized two special issues and two workshops stemming from those collaborations. She is currently involved in a collaboration investigating standard practices and challenges researchers face in Child-Robot Interaction (CRI), including ethical practices. The team includes researchers from GAIPS, INESC-ID; Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa; the Social and Robotics Research Laboratory (SIRRL), University of Waterloo, Canada; KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and LEGO education Denmark. The collaborations mentioned and involvement in international projects with multidisciplinary teams involve the definition and implementation of user studies, data analysis, and dissemination. Since 2019 she is also a lecturer at ISPA- Instituto Universitário, where she teaches Cognitive psychology and Introduction to psychological sciences. She has also co-supervised MsC students from Instituto Superior Técnico and ISPA.
