Mafalda Pinto holds a PhD in Human Biology at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (2004). She has been a researcher at Instituto de Patologia e Imunologia Molecular da Universidade do Porto (IPATIMUP)/I3S, and she is an invited professor at Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria, in Porto. Mafalda has published several scientific papers in peer-review journals and one book chapter. She has a project management certificate. She has received four scientific awards and/or honors, and has participated in thesis jury’s. Mafalda has supervised and co-supervised MSc dissertations, as well has new students arriving in the lab. She is responsible for the guidance and supervision of endocrinology medical doctors during their molecular biology internship. Mafalda is actively involved in science dissemination programs, such as Ciência Viva, Escola de Ciências da Vida e da Saúde (ECVS) and Universidade Júnior. Throughout her scientific career, Mafalda has participated in more than 20 research projects. She works in the area of Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on thyroid oncobiology and molecular biology, and she is a professor of pharmacology.
